THINK TANKS

PAST THINK TANK: THINK TANK XVIII

About

The BEST EN Think Tank XVIII entitled “Marketing Sustainable Tourism Products” will be hosted by the Institute of Tourism, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, in Lucerne (Switzerland).

The Institute of Tourism (ITW) at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts was founded in 1993. Tourism, mobility and sustainability are the three core topics of the ITW. Proven methodological and management skills ensure teaching, research and consultancy are practically oriented. All lecturers and researchers have extensive practical experience.

The Institute’s focus on sustainable tourism is also supported by the university’s interdisciplinary programme "Tourism and Sustainable Development". In this programme lecturers and researchers from different disciplines work together in project specific teams. A broadly diversified knowledge base involving different disciplines from all six departments (Business, Information Technologies, Social Work, Technology & Architecture, Art & Design and Music) enables working on sustainable tourism projects in a competent and holistic way.

The city of Lucerne lies in the German-speaking part of the country and acts as a gateway to Central Switzerland. From the historic Ruetli Meadow and the perpetual snow on Mt. Titlis to Lucerne's landmark mountain, Mt. Pilatus, and the famous locations on the Lucerne Riviera, everything is within easy reach. Please find some impressions here or in the video below:

The BEST Education Network is a long established international consortium of educators committed to furthering the development and dissemination of knowledge in the field of sustainable tourism. It is open to all students, academics and professionals who are interested in furthering education and research for sustainable tourism.

At a BEST EN Think Tank sustainable tourism topics are addressed in a collaborative and stimulating environment. A BEST EN Think Tank is about more than presenting papers: in workshop sessions participants co-produce knowledge through brainstorming and discussions to create research and educational materials for use in their research and teaching. Examples of co-produced knowledge from previous Think Tanks can be found in the knowledge section of this website.
