This paper explores the residents’ knowledge of community actions to engage local members in tourism planning and development in the King Cobra Village of Thailand. The degree of participatory ability which is associated with the public attitude, behaviour and the notion of the individual having a say in the decisions affecting this environment is a part of the foundation of a democratic system (Loukissas, 1983). Further, the consequences from this study may provide supportive tools to identify the significant functions of sustaining quality of life through community participation in the village tourism and its prospects towards popular participation in Thailand’s community-based tourism planning and development.
