AIRPLANE:

The closest airport to Philadelphia is the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) about 7 miles (11 kilometers) from Center City. http://www.phl.org

Center City/Temple University may be reached from Philadelphia International Airport by:

  • Airport Taxi: Taxi services can be picked up at Zone 5 on the Commercial Transportation Roadway. Taxi rates based per trip (not per person). $28.50 flat rate from the airport to the Central Philadelphia Area with additional $1.00 per person (may be additional fees to travel directly to Temple University via taxi from airport). If you need to pay by credit card please advise the dispatcher upon your arrival to the taxi area as all companies do not accept credit cards or vouchers as a form of payment.
  • SEPTA R1 High Speed Rail Line (Entrance on pedestrian bridges and commercial roadway) $5.50 one way to center city stops, additional $1.50 to Temple University. (Approximately 30 minutes)

                Center City Stops:

    • 30th Street Station (30th & Market streets) – connects to Market-Frankford Elevated Train (Blue Line) at 30th street Station
    • Suburban Station (15th & Market streets) – Connects to Market Frankford Elevated Train (Blue Line) & Broad Street Subway (Orange Line) at City Hall station
    • Market East/ The Gallery (11th & Market streets)- Connects to Market Frankford Elevated Train at 11th street station

               Temple University Stop:

    • Temple University – follow Berks St. exit and walk North on Berks towards Broad Street to Temple University

TRAIN:

If you travel to Philadelphia by train, you will arrive at 30th street station at 30th & Market Streets. Center City Philadelphia can be reached via the Market-Frankford Elevated Train (Blue Line) in 5 minutes.

TRANSPORTATION IN PHILADELPHIA

TAXI: There are various taxi companies throughout Philadelphia that can usually be picked up as needed along any major roadway. If needed, they can also be reached at the following numbers

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION (SEPTA): http://www.septa.org

  • Temple University can be reached via the Broad Street Subway (Orange Line) at the Cecil B. Moore/Temple University stop from Center City (Approx. 10 minutes)
  • Both Broad Street Subway Line & Market Frankford Line can be used to travel throughout Center City Philadelphia.
    • One-way ride with no transfers costs $2.00, with an additional $1.00 for each transfer (up to two transfers).
    • Discounted rates can be received by purchasing tokens from machines at select SEPTA train and bus stops for $1.55 each in packs of 2 or more. Same transfer fees apply.
    • 15th Street/City Hall Station provides a free interchange between Market-Frankford Line & Broad Street Subway.

The Conference sessions will take place at Temple University, located at 1801 N. Broad Street, just 2 miles north of Center City Philadelphia. Temple University, founded as the Temple School in 1884 became Temple University in 1907 and has evolved into a comprehensive urban research and academic institution. Temple offers nearly 300 academic programs, along with a rich study abroad program with campuses in Rome and Tokyo and programs in London, Bejing, Paris, and Mumbai, to its 39,000 students.
