The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council's Sustainable Tourism Planning and Development Laboratory will be hosting a post-conference mock Tourism Laboratory experience for 2007 BEST EN Think Tank participants on Thursday June 28, here in the Blackstone Valley of Rhode Island. Participants will be "walked-through" the Laboratory experience, meet the presenters and view the Laboratory setting.
There is no fee for the Laboratory. Ground transportation to and from T. F. Green Airport (PVD) to the Laboratory, meals and one night's accommodation will be the responsibility of the participant.
The Laboratory over this last year has hosted conferences in Green Tourism, Sustainable Tourism and Volunteer Tourism.
In May of 2006 the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council won the Ulysses Prize in Tourism Destination Management from the United Nations World Tourism Organization. In June, the Tourism Council won the BEST EN Outstanding Paper Award for 2006 which introduced the Tourism Laboratory to a worldwide audience and in September 2006, the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council and the Sustainable Tourism Laboratory earned the UNWTO.Sbest Certification in Tourism Governance, the first destination management organization to achieve this designation.
