Creating a Research Agenda and Network in Volunteering and Tourism

This Symposium which seeks to explore the opportunities for developing the area of
volunteering and tourism was conceived and developed to assist researchers and
professionals at all levels interested in this area including students who are seeking
publishing opportunities for their research papers.

Keynote speakers

Robert A. Stebbins FRSC is Faculty Professor in the Dept. of Sociology, University of Calgary. He is Faculty Professor and elected member of the Royal Society of Canada. He is author of 33 books and monographs as well as numerous articles and chapters in several areas of social science. Stebbins's serious leisure consists of playing in a jazz trio (on double bass), volunteering in Calgary's francophone community, and hiking and snowshoeing in the Canadian Rockies. For casual leisure he dines out in Calgary's restaurants and visits with family and friends.

Stephen Wearing is an Associate Professor at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). He has taught at a variety of Universities in his 23 year career . He has conducted numerous projects and lectures worldwide and is the author of 8 books and over 100 articles dealing with issues concerning leisure and tourism.
